About the Practitioner

I am Emmanuelle Ruen-Hayes

I have studied anatomy, physiology and reflexology in France (Paris) for three years, and have been certified in two schools :

- ACTION REFLEXO FORMATION (www.action-reflexo.com) with a Traditional Chinese Medicine approach that is focused on the systemic relation between organs

- REFLEX THERAPY TOTAL FAURE-ALDERSON, Ingham Method, (www.rttfa.net) focused on the cranial-sacral balance.

I still participate to post graduate training to enhance my practice with a Danish school, Touchpoint (www.touchpoint.dk). In 2017 we have learned a new protocol to stimulate the lymphatic system, in 2019 we have worked on the immune system. I have completed in 2020 specific classes specialized in low back/knees/foot pain and stress. In 2021, I have completed a neck/shoulders specific learning to soothe everyone suffering from posture and chronic tension in the scapula area and a class dedicated to headache and migraine. 2022 has started with a training focused on sciatic and SI joint that are involved in hip and feet pains. Then I have enrolled a class for arm/wrist/hand pain and in 2023 I have taken classes about feet pain.

In 2017, I have been certified to teach reflexology according to Mrs. FAURE-ALDERSON.

I practiced in Paris three years. My clients included both private clients and cancer patients in an association dedicated to help women during their treatment (www.etincelle.asso.fr).

I enjoy reflexology because it brings interesting and non intrusive responses to many functional problems that appear with time and that affect our health and energy. The topical use of essential oils blends helps me work deeper and more precisely on a system or organs, especially in case of stress, shock and grief.

Each care is tailored to your specific needs and the way you feel your condition changes. It is an interactive approach that allows you to monitor the care you need.
In addition to the benefits you will experience as a result from the care, it will promote a long term health. That double approach is very satisfying and rewarding for me as a practitioner.

Here is a tribute to Doctor Martine Faure-Alderson, my teacher and mentor who died on April 29, 2019. That explains the best way the specificities of the teaching I received to practice reflexology.

In 1964, Martine studied at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine, while following her training as a doctor at the London College of Medicine. She was one of a small group of students in the London School of Osteopaths who learned cranio-sacral therapy with Dr. John Upledger.  Martine graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London as well as the London College of Traditional Acupuncture.

In 1967 she met Doreen Bayly, pupil of Eunice Ingham. Doreen was a pioneer of reflexology in England. With Doreen Bayly, she proceeded to give seminars all over Europe.

She opened her own reflexology school in Paris in 1974, Reflexologie Therapie Totale Faure Alderson - RTTFA.
In 1990, Martine received her degree in homeopathy and she is member of the Society of Homeopaths.

The concept of cranio-sacral reflexology was born from an experience with a young child of 5, who had fallen over and was seriously injured on the chin. Combining her knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Martine worked on the big toe finding the point of the maxillary reflex. She also worked on all the small toes, on the reflex for the jaw, the coccyx and the zone of the sacral vertebrae.
This particular experience enabled Martine to develop a new approach to reflexology. Ten years of research were needed for her to plan and perfect this unique treatment approach to develop a teaching of a cranio-sacral reflexology program as we know it now.

From the year 2000 to 2006 with the help of a group of students Martine started research studies at the Marie Curie Hospital in Paris. The research focused on the effects of cranio-sacral reflexology on the well-being of cancer patients. During the process of this research, it was extended to four other hospitals, including The University of Michigan Hospital, USA.
The research showed that cranio-sacral reflexology created improvement both in the physical and mental state of the patients and also in pain reduction. It had a particular impact on psychological factors, such as depression and anxiety. Through this research Martine developed her lymphatic protocol. At the Marie Curie Institute, 70 % of the patients presenting a lymphatic edema of the abdomen or legs, noticed a reduction in swelling, relief and a better acceptance of the treatment.

Martine has continued to teach while carrying out further research in the field of natural therapies. With other students all over the world, I have been lucky to learn with Martine the reflexology technique she had developed, highly focused on physiology knowledge. I also have worked with the Curie Institute to support cancer patients.
